Every once in a while, I do a general search on Ebay for various Clough memorabilia.
A couple of weeks ago, I came across an Antique Cabinet Photo Card listing a “Nellie Clough.” It also indicated “Mrs. James Clough.” I decided to run with it and purchased it for the princely sum of $5.25 delivered.
A quick search of our database came up with a James A. Clough, born 21 May 1851 and died 30 May 1931 and who lived in the Kennebec, Maine area. He was married to a Nellie J. Blanchard.
While one can never be entirely sure, given this Cabinet Card has an Augusta, Maine imprint, this could very well be the Nellie J. Blanchard that was married to James.
It is not known at this time whether they produced any offspring.
Regardless, I spruced her up a bit in Photoshop and am presenting her to the Society.
