One of the (many) reasons I post the links to the various blogs and websites I come across (in the never-ending quest for more Clough Genealogy) is because there is often just as much to find in the various footnotes and comments sections as in the main articles themselves.
Take the following. While doing some research the other night, I stumbled across this ancestor-links.com website for John I of Salisbury, MA. While the JCGS has John already in our database, I was most interested in the Sources to see if there were any that I hadn’t heard of before. And indeed, there was.
The Sources on that page reference “John Hayes, of Dover, New Hampshire; a book of his family” by Katharine F. Richmond, (Tyngsboro, Massachusetts: n.p., 1936.)
A quick Google search turned it up, first on the Hathi.org site and also located here (Vol 1) and here (Vol 2).
It also led me to this mymaineancestry.blogspot.com blog post on John Hayes of Dover, who married Mary Horne, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Clough) Horne.
I also found a nice blog post by The Slovak Yankee on John Hayes here.
There is Clough Genealogy and related information everywhere if you spend a little time looking.
Incidentally, the JCGS database has the following information on Mary Horne.
