Society members and Hampden, MA residents Alan Fritts and Nancy Corriveau Zebert along with Nancy’s daughter Wendy Zebert donated a copy of the John Clough Genealogical Society’s Descendants of John Clough of Salisbury, Massachusetts (Revised 2009) in Two Volumes and its Errata: omissions and corrections (2011) to the Springfield History Library & Archives in the Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History, Springfield, MA. Fritts and Zebert presented the set to Margaret Humberston, head of the Springfield History Library and Archives in October 26th, during Family History Month. Nancy Zebert, Margaret Humberston, & Alan Fritts Some of the earliest John Clough descendants in the Greater Springfield [MA] area settled in Belchertown from Connecticut. Later, others moved down from Vermont. Nancy Zebert’s great-grandmother, Ida Thurston Clark, daughter of Harriet Clough, was born in Vermont. The Clark family moved first to West Springfield, and then to Main Street in Springfield. Zebert has a copy of a newspaper articles about Clark’s approaching 98th birthday, and then her later death in 1958. For many years, relatives would gather at her second story apartment to watch the Memorial Day Parade. Fritts, who moved to Hampden many years ago, credits his mother for his interest in the Clough genealogy. His Clough ancestors also came from Vermont, but they moved West to Iowa, and then to South Dakota, where Fritts was born. Fritts spent his schools years in Minnesota.
