From the Introduction:
“The Cloughs of New Hampshire were pioneers just as their parents and grandparents had been. They fanned out from the seacoast town of Salisbury in the second and third generations. This chapter tells of the Cloughs and their struggles in the unsettled wilderness, their attempts to build houses, establish town governments, build churches, provide education for their children and to obtain independent security for themselves.”
