Welcome to the Guiding Star Grange No 1, the first grange organized in Massachusetts on June 17, 1873 and reorganized in December 1903.
We are the Contra Dance Capital of America, if not the world. There are Contra Dances held on Saturday Nights with some dances held on Friday nights as well. Our building is used to sponsor a Boy Scout troop and is currently the voting location for the nine city precincts while our new $64 million dollar High School is being built a few streets away. We are also the home of two choruses and our building is in use most nights. Our grounds are also used each Tuesday from 3 to 6 PM for a Farmers Market from May to October. Our building has gone through several updates recently, including a new $35,000 floor in our upstairs hall. As I step aside as Society President after three separate terms of one two-year, and two five year terms, I feel confident that our new officers will carry us to our 75th Reunion, in 2015, and beyond. As always we are trying to get new members and also young members to carry on our family society. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all officers who have kept this society moving forward. On to our 75th Anniversary and beyond!!
David E. Lewis, President
