Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Clough arrived in Phillips, Maine, in August. They were in search of all possible information about the Cloughs of that locality. The town clerk was most cooperative by loaning to them the books of town records that contained data about Moses, grandfather of Cousin Benjamin, who was born in Readfield, Maine, in 1797. After the reunion, another visit was in Maine, followed by two weeks in New Hampshire where motor trips were enjoyed throughout the Lake and White Mountain regions.
They were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Archie Clough of Spokane, Washington, who had intended to arrive in time to be present at the reunion. Mr. Clough is a nephew of Cousin Benjamin, although both are about the same age.
One evening the four called upon the Editor in Plymouth. The time flew rapidly as we talked about the research that Cousin Benjamin is doing to verify his family lines. These two cousins were born in Wisconsin but went West to enter the service of the railroads. Both have now retired and are keeping busy in various activities. Cousin Benjamin enjoys a hobby with electricity and has a shop at his home that he has equipped with apparatus that brings additional income when he desires.
The day after this call, the four were going into Vermont to stay until the autumn foliage was at its height and after securing colored slides of this beauty, they planned to return to California or Spokane by routes that would permit visits to relatives along the way. We hope that they did not exhaust their curiosity about their ancestry in Maine, but will return again soon for a Clough reunion. In the November 24, 1954 Bulletin a cut of this family was printed.
As we were about to go to press, a letter from Cousin Signe and Ben was received telling that the “trip home was made in safety and no trouble of any kind. Hope there will be another one sometime.”
