Obituary: George Freeman Rowe

March 8, 2015 By fclough

The following is a reprint from the June 1949, Volume 4, No. 1 Bulletin.

The Portland Press Herald of May 17, 1949, contained the following sad news:

George Freeman Rowe, 79, died suddenly Monday morning in his home.  Born at North Yarmouth, son of Jonathan and Nancy Clough Rowe, he came to Portland in 1901.  He was a railway mail clerk, a former deacon of Woodsford Congregational Church and a member of Deering Lodge of Masons.

Mr. Rowe is survived by his daughter, Miss Marian B. Rowe, and several nieces and nephews.

The sympathy of our society is expressed to Cousin Marian who will be lonely without the companionship of her father.  Mr. Rowe attended the reunion at Salisbury and at Kennebunkport last year.
