Message From The President
To All Of The Cousins:
My attendance at my second Clough reunion has certainly made a big change in my life. I hope that I shall be able to justify the confidence the Cousins had in electing me your new President. I am blessed with an experienced group of officers and Board of Directors, and I shall lean on them for support and advice.
We of the Clough family can boast a proud heritage. In reading the story of the Clough family and the Genealogy I came upon many in whom I felt pride as a family member. I am especially interested in Reverend John Clough who was a missionary to India and have read other material about his life in addition to that in our books. I believe it is our task as members of a Society such as ours to review the lives and deeds of those gone on before us who have done such noble service. It is well also to be acquainted with the conditions they endured and the obstacles they surmounted to bring us where we are today. Could we have done as well? Search the past. Let it serve as an inspiration for the present. Let us live so as to be an inspiration to the generations who will follow us.
Tentative plans are being made to hold next year’s reunion in Kennebunkport, Maine. Complete details will be in the Spring Bulletin. Be sure to include it in next summer’s activities.
It is my sincere hope that we will add many new and active members to our rolls during the next year. I will be especially happy to see the younger members joining us, not only for the inspiration they may receive from the past but to help carry on the purposes of the Society.
Summer has gone, Fall so beautiful in Maine, envelops us. Now we are looking forward to winter and all that it holds for us. May the Christmas season be blessed with joy in the commemoration of the birth of our Savior and the New Year overflowing with happiness, health and peace.
