Dear Martha;
The lamp which was lit by the masterhand of our beloved President “Walter E. Cluff” at Exeter, New Hampshire in the year 1939 has shown the innumerable and various branches of our Clough, Clow, Cluff families what can be accomplished through ceaseless effort.
We must never allow that lamp to flicker or go out as the comraderie (sp) and brotherly love he has taught us is to love one another which is the hope for the future of our noble Society and will lead us all at last to the throne of “God” where we shall be re-united with our loved ones with the promise of “God” that there shall be no more death.
I am depending on you to assist me in every way possible to build up our Connecticut Chapter that by so doing we may strengthen our National Society and prove our loyalty to the officers of that noble, distinguished Organization in which we are proud we can claim membership through heritage.
Owing to traveling difficulties it will be impossible to hold our Connecticut Chapter reunion this year, therefore, we must be more steadfast in our efforts to remain loyal that the work that has been so well begun shall not of been in vain.
Very Sincerely Yours, Gertrude Clough, Pres.
