In the Memorial poems and brief ancestral record of the Webster family and descendants by John Clough Webster available on archive.org, there is a reference to Harriet Clough on page 34 and 36. She was the second wife of Benjamin Webster. She died August 8, 1887 and was the daughter of John and Sybil Clough of Freeman, Maine.
She was the 4x great-granddaughter of John 1.
The following children were born to Harriet and Benjamin:
SYBIL A., born May 22, 1333. Died Jan. 9, 1390 in Ossawatomie, Kansas. Married Dr. J. G. Taylor, Oct. 31, 1853. Was divorced from him, and July 14, 1861, she married Turner Sampson. After his death she married T. A. Stanley, Jan. 22, 1832.
BENJAMIN C., born Nov. 27, 1836. Died June 9, 1901. Married Irena Mullen, June 19, 1864. She died March 6, 1871, and was buried at Dead River, Me. May 16, 1872, he married her sister, Adelia, from whom he was divorced, Oct. 12, 1877. He married Eunice Carver March 29, 1879. She was born June 12, 1832. He entered the service of the government Sept. 20, 1864, and remained in the army in front of Richmond until Gen. Lee’s surrender. He lived in Kingfield, Me., and was buried in the new cemetery. For upwards of thirty years he was almost helpless—the result of paralysis growing out of exposure in the army— and was liberally pensioned by the government by a special act of Congress.
JOHN C., born May 24, 1839. Married Sarah B. Norton, daughter of Tristram G. and Rebecca Norton, of Kingfield, Maine, Jan. 19, 1862. She was born Nov. 7, 1837, and died Aug. 24, 1868. By this marriage one child (George) was born. He died when a few hours old, and Sarah never rallied from her confinement. Oct. 27, 1869, he married Mrs. Mary E. Abbott, daughter of James Little, 2d, and Eliza G., of Enfield, N. H. Mr. Webster was a printer by trade, and worked at newspaper business for about nine years. He entered the service of the Aetna Life Insurance Co., of Hartford, Conn., March 25, 1864, and continued in its employed as local agent, general agent, superintendent of agencies, and as vice president, for thirty-seven years. For twenty years he occupied the latter position. He was trustee of the Hartford Trust Company for seventeen years, and is now retired from active business. Residence, Farmington av., corner of Concord street, Hartford, Conn.
CONWAY H., born Nov. 19, 1842. Married Eunice Gross, Sept. 17, 1865. He lives in Farmington, Maine.
ELDORA M., born Feb. II, 1846. Married Wesley Blanchard, Aug. 5, 1866. Mrs. Blanchard has for years been identified with the interests of the Maine Woman’s Christian Temperance Union; was state treasurer several years. She established “The Star in the East,” an organ of that organization. She was president for many years of the W. C. T. U. at Lewiston, Me., where she resides. She was instrumental in establishing a home for sick and needy children, and was a director of the Young Woman’s Home, and a charter member of the Woman’s Hospital Association, which did so much for the Central Maine Hospital of which Lewiston is justly proud.
EMMA H., born Nov. 16, 185o. Married Peleg G. Sanford, Feb. 22, 1873. Residence, Lewiston, Me.
