When the introductions were made at the reunion, Cousin Clarence presented Mr. B. H. Bean of Le Grand, Iowa, and requested that Mr. Bean display specimens of fossils which he collected in Iowa. On Sunday morning, these beautiful crinoids were spread out and explained for our information and pleasure. So delicate are the remains of these rayed bodies resembling lilies, that a fine needle was used to separate the soil from their delicate grooves. These crinoids abounded in Paleozoic times. Look them up in your dictionaries. Mr. Bean visited at the home of William J. Clough in Haverhill, N. H., and spent the day at Dartmouth College where his fossils excited the envy of the scientists. Mr. Bean is a lecturer of note and has promised to return in 1949 when we anticipate a better acquaintance with this famous cousin.
