Sunday Morning
July 10, 1966
The Clough Family was represented at the Congregational Church at Thompson, by ten members on July 10th. The Pastor, Rev. Herbert E. Pickett, Jr. read a brief biographical review of the service that the ancestor Jona-than3 gave when a Deacon, for forty years after the church was organized. The basket of flowers that Cousin Martha Tibbits procured stood beside the pulpit in memory of the ancestors who were early settlers in Thompson.
At the close of the church services many friendly persons in the congregation welcomed us, and one person told about Clough’s in her memory. We were pleased that we paid our tribute in this inspirational memorial to Jonathan, grandson of the original John who contributed to the town’s church, military, history and legislative services. His children have remained in Connecticut to do their share in the progress of their State, while scores are living in the Hudson Valley and further toward the West.
In Vol. II of the Genealogy, the picture of S. Dewitt Clough adds fame to this branch of the Clough family.
