During planning and attendance of the 2012 Annual Meeting and Reunion in Canterbury, New Hampshire several members observed the damaged grave headstone of Joseph G. Clough in the cemetery across the street from our meeting place in the village. It was decided at the time that we should look into the repair of the gravesite. There was a consensus of members who agreed that we should informally take on this project;,in part to thank the Historical Society and citizens of Canterbury for their overwhelming hospitality. After a brief search for living descendants we obtained approval and arranged for straightening, repair and cleaning. The photos above show the results of this project which was completed in the summer of 2014. The project cost $625. At the 2014 annual meeting, members voted the Society to match member gifts to this project at 50% ($5 match for $10 gift). We ask members to consider a gift to this project, especially those members who were fortunate enough to be present at Canterbury. This is a one-time project. If we are successful enough to oversubscribe this project, excess funds will go to the Plains of Salisbury Burial Grounds fund.
